Private colleges a better deal

Most parents assume that their child will graduate from college in four years, but statistics tell a different story.The average four-year graduation rate from public institutions nationally is an astonishingly low 27 percent, compared with 49 percent for private colleges -- higher, but nowhere near high enough. In New York, it's 42 percent for the State University of New York, 21 percent for the City University of New York and 57 percent for private institutions.Highly selective
